Isaiah Thomas Faces Possible Suspension After Hitting Hawks' Schroder

Update: The NBA has ruled that Isaiah Thomas will not be suspended following his Game 3 altercation with Atlanta's Dennis Schroder.

BOSTON (CBS) – The Celtics hope to tie their first round series against the Atlanta Hawks at two games apiece on Sunday at TD Garden. Whether Boston's best player will be available for the critical game, however, is up in the air.

Isaiah Thomas scored 42 points on Friday night to lead the Celtics to a 111-103 win in Game 3.

But the all-star guard now faces the possibility of a suspension after he hit Hawks guard Dennis Schroder in the head during a chippy first quarter.

Multiple reports indicate that the league is looking into the incident and a suspension is on the table for Thomas.

After the game, Schroder voiced his displeasure for Thomas' actions and said that referees apologized at halftime for missing it.

Schroder tweeted, and quickly deleted, after the game about the exchange as well.

"Woow.. they calling a flagrant foul on me! Where I try to protect myself!!! But (Isaiah) Thomas can hit me in my face!" the deleted tweet read.

It is unclear when a decision on a possible Thomas suspension will be announced.

Game 4 is scheduled for Sunday at 6 p.m. in Boston.
