Isaiah Thomas Avoids Suspension After Game 3 Incident

BOSTON (CBS) – The Celtics have dodged a bullet as guard Isaiah Thomas avoided a suspension following an incident in Game 3 of the team's first round playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks.

Thomas hit Hawks guard Dennis Schroder in the head as he retreated on defense.

No foul was called on the play. He was assessed a Flagrant 1 foul on Saturday.

Thomas went on to score 42 points, leading the Celtics to a 111-103 win that sliced Boston's series deficit to 2-1.

Reports indicated that the Celtics' all-star guard may have been forced to sit out Sunday's Game 4, which tips off at 6 p.m.

But the NBA ruled Saturday afternoon that Thomas will not miss the game.

Marcus Smart was assessed a $5,000 fine for flopping in Game 3.
