iPhone 6 Fans Camp Out In Back Bay To Be Among First To Get Apple Of Their Eye

BOSTON (CBS) – The new iPhone 6 has arrived, much to the delight of the crowds camped outside the Apple Store on Boylston Street in the Back Bay on Friday.

Dozens waited on the cold sidewalk overnight, fortified by pizza and coffee while wrapped in blankets.

"We ordered Dominos and had it delivered to the street," said Greg Raiz, explaining how he and his fellow Apple fans passed the time. "We were singing songs, playing iphone games, having lots of fun."

Shiran Weber showed up at 3 a.m. to get the coveted device. "I'm here for an iPhone 6 Plus, so I want a massively big phone.  Just something to tool around with

They'll be tooling around with a lot of new features on the large new phone.

Chicagoan Eric Pescatore couldn't wait another day for the 6 Plus.

"Especially when those boring times at work hit and you can cruise the Internet for a couple of extra hours. It'll make the day go by easier and go by faster," he said.

The first batch of the new iPhones in the world went on sale Monday in Australia and the very first person to get his hands on the phone managed to drop it as soon as he left the store.

The fumble was captured on TV in Perth but it appeared a digital disaster was averted.
