Apple Truck Fire Shuts Down I-95 In North Attleboro

NORTH ATTLEBORO (CBS) – A truck carrying apples crashed and burned on Interstate 95 in North Attleboro early Friday morning.

The tractor-trailer hit a guard rail in the northbound lanes just before 5 a.m. and burst into flames between exits 4 and 5, near Routes 152 and 295.

State police shut down I-95 immediately.

They said the driver was not hurt, but it's still not clear yet what caused the crash.

Traffic was backed up for as much as six miles at one point and there was a second crash in that backup. Troopers opened one lane of traffic just before 6 a.m. and all lanes were open just after 8 a.m.
