Images Released Of Man Wanted In Boston University Groping Incidents

BOSTON (CBS) -- Police have released surveillance images of a man wanted in connection with one or more assaults near Boston University.

Alerts sent to students last week warned about groping reports on the evening of May 4.

In one incident at about 5:23 p.m., a woman told police she was walking along Chester Street near Brighton Avenue when a man approached from behind and tried to lift up her dress. She struck the unknown man, who fled the scene on foot, according to police.

She described the attacker as a white male in his 30s with a thin build, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, and weighing between 160 to 165 pounds. He wore a blue shirt, tan cargo shorts, sneakers and sunglasses, she said.

Later that evening at about 8:52 p.m., a woman reported that a man approached her from behind, lifted up her skirt and groped her near 800 Commonwealth Ave.

That man was described as a white male in his late 30s to early 40s, slim build, balding with thin hair, and wearing a blue t-shirt and gray cargo shorts.

Police are advising students to stay alert and not walk alone at night.

The man in the images appears to be out for a run and carrying a water bottle, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
