IKEA Recalls Crib Mattresses Due To Entrapment Danger

BOSTON (CBS) -- IKEA is recalling some crib mattresses that could pose a danger to infants.

Any VYSSA mattress with a May 4, 2014 manufacture date or earlier is being recalled. The furniture company has received two reports of infants getting trapped in between the mattress and end of the crib, but no injuries have resulted.

"A gap between mattress and crib ends can pose an entrapment hazard for an infant," IKEA said in a statement. "Customers should verify that their crib mattress has the correct length."

IKEA encourages parents to measure possible gaps by removing all bedding and making sure there is no gap wider than the width of two fingers between the ends of the crib and the mattress. If a larger gap is found, the recalled mattresses can be returned for a full refund, IKEA said.
