Toddler Burned After Stepping On Hot Coals At Cape Cod Beach

HYANNIS (CBS) – A toddler was taken by MedFlight from a Cape Cod beach after she stepped on hot coals that were on the ground from a family barbecue.

The 2-year-old suffered second degree burns to 75 percent of her feet after stepping on coals at Veterans Beach around 2:15 p.m.

Though the girl was brought to Hasbro Children's Hospital in Rhode Island by helicopter, her injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The girl was conscious and alert when she was transported.

According to the Hyannis Fire Department, the air transport was necessary to get immediate treatment for the burns.
