Fishermen Caught In High Tide, Winds, Rescued In Hyannis

HYANNISPORT (CBS) -- Twelve fisherman were rescued after they became separated from the mainland Sunday morning.

The wind and waves added up to a dangerous situation for the fishermen who headed out 5a.m. at low tide.

"They become involved in fishing don't realize the tide is coming in and the wind,"said Hyannis Fire Captain Greg Dardia. "And they become detached from land at that point by the tide breaks and the rocks as you can see prevent them from just walking back."

Dardia said the unusually high winds made the circumstances even more challenging.

No one was seriously injured, though a few suffered from exposure.
