Canopy Flies Off Restaurant Deck, Lands On Power Lines

HYANNIS (CBS) – Firefighters say no one was injured when a canopy went airborne off of a Hyannis restaurant's deck and landed on nearby power lines.

Just after 9 a.m., a strong wind lifted a four-by-six-foot canvas canopy with metal legs off the deck of the Hyannis Anglers Club on Ocean Street.

The canopy became wedged in power lines above the street, though it never made contact with any dangerous parts of the wires.

A short time later the power company was able to free the canopy from the wires.

Hyannis firefighters called it a "freak incident" and added it was a "different kind of call" than what the department usually responds to.
