Hurricane Gonzalo Disrupts Bermuda Travel Plans For Locals

BOSTON (CBS) -- The passenger ship "Norwegian Dawn" that is supposed to leave Boston Friday headed for Bermuda is being diverted because of Hurricane Gonzalo.

The Category 3 storm barreling down on the island is disrupting travel plans for many, including those on the Norwegian Dawn, which holds 2,400 passengers. The ship will now head straight down the coast for the Bahamas.

The last-minute change by Norwegian Cruise Lines caught many off the passengers off-guard. Travelers Mike and Patty told WBZ NewsRadio1030 that they had no idea about the new destination.

"Oh so we're going to the Bahamas now?" said Patty, who added that she was disappointed because they had already paid for excursions on the island like snorkeling. "I understand they can't control the weather, and neither could we, but I would've appreciated the heads up."

Mike, on the other hand, was not bothered.

"Sunshine, beaches and beer!" he said.
