Woman Dies While Scuba Diving Off Nantasket Beach In Hull

HULL (CBS) – A 67-year-old woman died while scuba diving off Nantasket Beach in Hull Sunday afternoon.

When Hull firefighters arrived, the victim, Nancy Siegel of Dedham, had already been pulled from the ocean and State Police and lifeguards were performing CPR.

The area where the woman was located was rocky and difficult for rescue crews to access. She was transported to South Shore Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Siegel, a certified scuba diver, was at the beach with a group of other divers.

State Police were still in the water late Sunday night trying to recover Siegel's equipment, which was removed by rescuers.

The incident remains under investigation. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of Siegel's death.
