Honorary Boston Police Officer Dies After Battle With Brain Cancer

BOSTON (CBS) – A young man who was made an honorary member of the Boston Police Department in December passed away following his battle with cancer.

Justin Quinn died on Wednesday morning, the Boston Police Patrolmen's Association said.

Quinn, who was battling brain cancer, was given a 70-car police escort from Gloucester to Boston City Hall in December.

From there he fulfilled his wishes to meet Mayor Marty Walsh and to become a member of the Boston Police Department.

Walsh even went as far as naming December 11, 2014, "Justin Quinn Day" in the city.

The Patrolmen's Association said Quinn died on Wednesday morning surrounded by his loving family.
