Homemade Baby Food May Not Be Any Healthier Than Store-Bought

BOSTON (CBS) -- If you feel like you're letting your baby down because you feed your child from a store bought jar while your friend diligently blends all her baby food at home, don't despair.

A new study discovered that while home-cooked meals are less expensive and do have more nutrients overall, they often have more salt, more fat, more calories and less vegetable variety per meal that prepackaged meals.

If you prepare all of your baby's meals at home, that's great, just watch the salt and fat content.  And if you rely on commercial baby food, know that it's a convenient and reasonable alternative.  You may just want to supplement with other nutritious options.
