Which Massachusetts Cities Spend The Most On Holiday Gifts?

BOSTON (CBS) – A new survey is breaking down how much America is spending on holiday gifts this year.

In Boston, the average is about $590, according to WalletHub. That's actually considerably less than the national average of $935.

As for the biggest holiday spenders in Massachusetts – they can be found in Newton. WalletHub says Newton residents have an average gift budget of $1,675.

Other Bay State communities coming in the top 100 nationwide are:

22. Cambridge - $1,511
29. Somerville - $1,451
65. Framingham - $1,150
78. Quincy - $1,062

Palo Alto, California residents have the highest holiday budgets at $2,821. At the very bottom of the list are residents in Springfield and Brockton, spending just over $70 during the holidays.
