Holden Man Arrested On Charges Of Killing His Brother In Rutland

RUTLAND (CBS) – Police arrested a Holden man Thursday on charges of killing his brother in Rutland earlier this month, the Worcester County District Attorney's Office reported.

Michael S. Dowjat, 65, of Holden was arrested at his home shortly before 4 p.m.

Dowjat's brother, David J. Alan, 59, was found dead in a 1960s-style bomb shelter beneath his Rutland home on June 14.

Alan's body was discovered after Rutland police were called to the home for a wellness check.

The DA's office said an autopsy, performed by the state Medical Examiner's office, determined Alan died of multiple stab wounds.

Dowjat will be arraigned Friday in Western Worcester District Court in East Brookfield.

Rutland police, Holden police and state police will continue to investigate the case.
