Winter Wonderland: Frosty Sight At Blue Hill Observatory

MILTON (CBS) -- Winter weather has finally come to Massachusetts, and it's creating quite a sight at the Blue Hill Observatory.

Temperatures there dropped to 23 degrees Wednesday morning, and the observatory caught some neat images of hoar frost forming on structures and trees.

As WBZ-TV chief meteorologist Eric Fisher explains, hoar frost appears as icy needles that are formed when supercooled water vapor is deposited on surfaces.
