High School Student Dies In Holden Car Crash

HOLDEN, Mass. (CBS/AP) — Authorities say a 17-year-old high school student from central Massachusetts has died in a car crash.

A spokesman for the Worcester district attorney's office identified the victim of the crash in Holden just after noon on Tuesday as Wachusett Regional High School senior Luke Inwood of Rutland.

Authorities say Inwood left school early and lost control of his car before crashing into several trees. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Inwood was alone and no other vehicles were involved.

The crash remains under investigation but speed is being looked at as a possible factor.

Inwood was an accomplished online gamer who had competed professionally in international competitions.

Grief counselors for students, teachers and faculty will be made available at the school on Wednesday.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family with funeral expenses.
