Aaron Hernandez's Girlfriend Wants Charge Dismissed

FALL RIVER (AP) — An attorney for the girlfriend of Aaron Hernandez plans to seek dismissal of the perjury charge she faces in connection with the former New England Patriot's murder case.

Shayanna Jenkins' lawyer said during a brief proceeding in Fall River Superior Court on Monday she intends to file motions to dismiss. She said there isn't evidence to support the charge.

Jenkins is free on personal recognizance after pleading not guilty.

Prosecutors allege Jenkins lied to the grand jury that indicted Hernandez, including about disposing of evidence at his request. They have said most of her testimony was "not credible."

The ex-player has pleaded not guilty in the killing of Odin Lloyd, a 27-year-old semi-professional football player from Boston who was dating Jenkins' sister.

A telephone conference has been scheduled for next month.
