Hernandez Co-Defendants Appear In Court On Murder Charges

FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) — Two men accused of joining with former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez to kill a man in 2013 have appeared in court for the first time since Hernandez was convicted of murder.

Attorneys for Ernest Wallace and Carlos Ortiz discussed trial dates Friday at Bristol County Superior Court. Both men have pleaded not guilty to murder.

Attorneys for Wallace requested a Feb. 1 trial date, and Ortiz's attorney requested a date in mid-May.

The judge says she will confirm whether these dates work.

Ortiz is due back in court Friday afternoon for a hearing on a motion to suppress evidence.

Prosecutors say Ortiz and Wallace helped Hernandez carry out the June 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd.

Hernandez was convicted in April and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
