Haverhill Police File Charges For Manger Pig Head

HAVERHILL (CBS) – Police announced on Tuesday that they have filed charges against a person suspected of stealing the baby Jesus statue from a church nativity scene and replacing it with a real pig's head.

Haverhill police announced that they will hold a press conference on Wednesday to reveal a "resolution" to the vandalism case at Sacred Hearts Church that took place on Christmas morning.

Police did not reveal the suspect's identity on Tuesday, but said they will be charged with destruction to a place of worship under $5,000, malicious destruction of property over $250, and larceny over $250.

The defendant is expected to be arraigned in Haverhill District Court on Friday.

A Haverhill woman replaced the baby Jesus statue with one of her own shortly after the incident was reported.
