Haverhill Man Faces Charges Related To 2013 Dismembered Body

NEWBURYPORT (AP) — A 26-year-old Haverhill man is held without bail after pleading not guilty to charges related to the death of a man whose burned and dismembered remains were found in two different places last year.

The Essex district attorney's office said Thursday that Reginald Cummings was arraigned Wednesday in Newburyport District Court on charges of being an accessory after the fact to murder, and disinterring a body.

Prosecutors said the charges are related to the killing of 24-year-old Dennis Ray Jackson of Amesbury. Jackson's remains were found in November behind a building in Boston and in a barrel in Bridgewater.

Police said last year they found evidence connected to Jackson's death in a house Cummings rented in Haverhill. Cummings said he had no role in the killing.

Cummings was arrested in November on an alleged probation violation.
