Harvard Investigating 'White Student Union' Facebook Page

CAMBRIDGE (CBS) -- Harvard University administrators are investigating after the emergence of a "White Student Union" Facebook page claiming to be affiliated with the school.

The page with more than 125 likes and an "All Lives Matter" profile picture has shared photos of flyers advertising the White Student Union at different locations on campus.

"The White Student's Union of Harvard University is designed to defend our unique culture, heritage, and inherent civil rights. White lives matter to us," the page's description reads.

The Harvard Crimson reports that the page creator claims to be a Harvard student but won't reveal their identity because of security concerns.

Officials at Harvard tell The Crimson it's not clear who is behind the Facebook page, but the school is investigating.

Similar Facebook pages have claimed to be affiliated with universities around the country, including one found to be a hoax at UMass Amherst. At the University of California-Berkeley and Penn State University, school administrators have said the pages are the work of outside groups.
