Handbags Worth Thousands Stolen From Chestnut Hill Mall

NEWTON (CBS) -- Thousands of dollars worth of handbags were stolen from the Bloomingdale's at the Chestnut Hill Mall on Monday, police said.

According to surveillance video from about 7:20 p.m., two women took eight to ten handbags and got away in a car with the license plate number FF16CW.

The car then ran a red light and headed east on Route 9 towards Boston.

Police estimate the women could have gotten away with as much as $12,000 worth of merchandise. The getaway car was also stolen, police said.

Both suspects were described as black women, one with blue jeans, a black top and shoes, and other with a white dress on.

Anyone with information about the identities of the women is asked to call Newton Police.
