Former Babysitter Charged With Kidnapping In Disappearance Of Hamilton Girl

HAMILTON (CBS) – Police have arrested the former babysitter of a 2-year-old girl who was reported missing from her Hamilton home and found naked with a shaved head several miles away.

Abigail Hanna, 21, of Topsfield was arrested and charged with kidnapping, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a child and breaking and entering in the nighttime, police announced Saturday morning.

Hamilton Police Chief Russell Stevens said the kidnapping of the young girl was not a random crime, adding that there is no threat to the safety of local children.

Police said the young girl, who was reunited with her family on Friday, remains hospitalized. No further details on her condition were released, though on Friday she was listed in fair condition.

Stevens said no additional information on the case is being released.
