Guinness Brewery Plans To Go Vegan

DUBLIN (CBS) -- Guinness is mixing up the way it brews its iconic stout.

The Irish brewery, founded in 1759, is reportedly going vegan.

CBS News cites a report from the Times of London that says Guinness will stop using isinglass, which are fish bladders used to get rid of excess yeast in the brewing process.

Guinness reportedly plans to build a new filtration plant that won't use isinglass.

Vegan and vegetarian activists have long been asking Guinness to switch to a synthetic product instead of isinglass.
