Gresh On The Slam Dunk Contest: Sprite Should Get Their Money Back
BOSTON (CBS) - Did you watch the slam dunk contest Saturday night? Andy Gresh feels bad for you.
"I went away this weekend and on Saturday I start zapping around the channels and what do I see? Nick Cannon. I should've known right there," said Gresh.
"So they bring him out and they got this DJ on the floor, DJ such-and-such I don't even know who it was. Then you got Dr. J [Julius Erving], Dominique Wilkins and I can't even remember who the other judge was. It was like the beginning of America's Got Talent with Nick Cannon setting up the competition."
Gresh feels bad for Sprite.
"If I'm Sprite I want my money back because I could've came up with a better marketing campaign. Have some company offer up $5 million and you get the real heavy hitters in there. Eight people. Round by round. The judges matter and you do it old school."
Gresh can't figure out why the NBA changed the format to a team competition of East vs. West when the league has always been about individual players.
"It made no sense whatsoever.
"Thirty seconds in I turned it off. I kept going back just to see for fun because I wanted to see Nick Cannon setting it up. It was like he had the names written on his hand and he had to peak. He's a good host on America's Got Talent, but he shouldn't be doing the damn dunk contest. They've now ruined the dunk contest."
