Researchers Tag First Great White Of The Season Off Nauset Beach

ORLEANS (CBS) – Researchers tagged their first great white shark of the season Friday off of Cape Cod.

Members of the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries and the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy tagged the shark Friday off Nauset Beach.

The 12-foot white shark was spotted about one-quarter mile offshore.

Dr. Greg Skomal, who tagged the shark, named it Luke after a local fisherman who recently died.

Researchers had the chance to watch the shark eat seal, the second feeding they've watched in the last week.
