Great Wall Restaurant Closed Because Their Wall Is Falling

WORCESTER (CBS) - The Great Wall is crumbling. The Great Wall of China is still standing, but the Great Wall Chinese Restaurant in Worcester is closed.

The restaurant is closed because bricks from the back wall of the restaurant started falling into the alley behind the building.

That action came this week when bricks from the back of the building started falling into the alley. Those falling bricks left the second floor apartments exposed.

The owners have posted a sign on the locked gate in front of the facility saying it's temporarily closed for repairs. However, the city has issued a demolition order for the building.

The building sits between the Hanover Theater Building and city hall and has been the focus of a dispute over downtown renovations.

Current plans for the Great Wall building are to convert it into a mixture of apartments and retail spaces.
