Governor Baker, Mayor Walsh Join Dan Rea On NightSide

BOSTON (CBS) – Governor Charlie Baker and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh joined Dan Rea on NightSide Wednesday night.

Mayor Walsh defended his decision to hold the Patriots parade Wednesday and urged residents to be patient as the city continues to dig out from the historic snowstorms.

"We celebrate our champions," Mayor Walsh said. "What are we supposed to stop everything because we have snow on the ground? We move forward. We had over a million people in the City of Boston. People were real excited today in the city. We had no incidents."

Governor Baker says he will begin to discuss next week's snowstorm with MEMA officials this weekend.

Governor Baker indicated ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft would be allowed to continue operating while his administration develops new regulations to ensure the safety of drivers and customers.

"There needs to be a legislative fix here," Baker said. "We'll be filing something; we're going to be working with the cities of Boston and Somerville, which are the two cities that seem particularly interested in this, to file something with the legislature and try and get it done by the spring."

Baker and Walsh also answered some questions from listeners. One caller asked Baker about the possibility of adding a new bridge to Cape Cod. "It's absolutely in the mix," Baker said, noting that the Army Corps of Engineers has to be involved in the process.
