Fund Established For Fallen Boston Firefighters

BOSTON (AP) — The mayor's office has announced that a memorial fund has been established to help the families of two Boston firefighters killed on duty Wednesday.

The Boston Firefighter's Credit Union in Dorchester has created the fund to benefit the families of Lt. Edward Walsh and Firefighter Michael Kennedy, who died when they became trapped fighting a fire in a brownstone apartment building in the Back Bay area. Walsh was married with three children under age 10. Kennedy was single.

Boston Mayor Martin Walsh said he's grateful to the credit union "for helping us create a focal point for peoples' generosity."

The mayor said donations may be made at the credit union's website, www.bosfirecu.com, or by mailing checks to the fund care of the Boston Firefighter's Credit Union, 60 Hallet St., Boston MA 02124.
