Fucarile, Fiancee Plan To Make New Memories This April

BOSTON (CBS) --- The first plan was simple: just get out of Boston.

But Marc Fucarile and fiancee Jen Regan went the other way.

Instead of leaving town to commemorate the Marathon bombings, they're getting married at Fenway Park.

One year and two days after the explosion that took Marc's leg, they are making that day their anniversary.

"You have a choice and that's what I feel in life. We've made the choice that we're going to move on," Fucarile said.

Their 6-year-old son Gavin has kept the couple focused on the positive, but so has the incredible support from all over the world.

"It makes you seriously think of ways you can give back, or things that you can do," Regan said.

Fucarile was the last survivor to leave the hospital after 100 days of grueling recovery and his journey is far from over.

More complications and never ending pain mean he still may lose his left leg.

"I'm not a hero, I'm just a person who was in the wrong place at the wrong time," he says.

These days, Fucarile makes it a point to be in the right place, all the time.

He recently learned to ski in Colorado and he wants to set an example for his boy, and for everyone, to remain undeterred in the face of anything.

"I just feel like I'm a survivor," he said.

And they both feel obligated to be in court when the accused is too.

"I'd like to eventually look at him and see him personally. For me, I just want to make sure that he knows I'm still here," Fucarile said.

"I go to every hearing. There's one the day before my wedding and I intend to be there," Regan said.

Marc says he intends to remain optimistic, his way to repay an outstanding debt.

"The support has been so overwhelming, it's been mind-boggling," Fucarile said. "Like I say, the good out there outweighs the evil. And I've said that since day one when I woke up."
