BC Women's Hockey Team Preparing For First National Championship Appearance

BOSTON (CBS) – The Boston College women's hockey team is one win from history.

On Friday, the Eagles earned a 3-2 overtime win over Clarkson in the Frozen Four national semifinal game.

Boston College fell behind 2-0 early, but fought back to force the extra session. In overtime, Haley Skarupa's second goal of the game lifted the Eagles to the program's first-ever national championship appearance.

The improved Boston College's unblemished record to 40-0-0 on the year.

With Friday night's victory, the Eagles advanced to face Minnesota in the title game. The Golden Gophers are 34-4-1 on the year.

The championship game is scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m. on the University of New Hampshire campus.

Boston College's roster includes eight New England residents.
