Framingham Priest Put On Leave Following Abuse Allegation

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (AP) — A Roman Catholic priest in Massachusetts has been placed on leave by the Archdiocese of Boston because of an allegation of the sexual abuse of a minor.

The archdiocese in a statement Friday said Monsignor Francis V. Strahan cannot perform any public ministry while on administrative leave.

Strahan has been the pastor of St. Bridget Parish in Framingham since 1983. A voicemail was left for Strahan at St. Bridget.

The archdiocese says the allegation of abuse dates to about 2006.

The archdiocese says it has informed law enforcement of the allegation and has initiated its own investigation into the complaint.

In addition to being the pastor of a church, Strahan is the vicar of the Framingham Vicariate, a collection of parishes within the archdiocese.
