Police: Car Split In Half In Foxboro Crash Was Driving 100 MPH, Nearly Hit Trooper
FOXBORO (CBS) – A car that police say was driving in excess of 100 MPH was split in half in a violent crash early Wednesday morning in Foxboro.
The car skidded off Cedar Street just before 3 a.m. and then slammed into a utility pole. State Police said the driver, a 15-year-old Stoughton boy, was taken into custody and transported to Boston Medical Center with minor injuries. A handgun was found at the scene of the crash.
Massachusetts State Police said a trooper was on Interstate 495 in Raynham when his cruiser was nearly struck by the speeding car.
The trooper began a pursuit and followed the car onto Route 140 in Mansfield. The chase was called of when the driver reached Green Street because it was a secondary road.
About five minutes later, the crash was reported in Foxboro.
The boy, who is not being identified because he is a juvenile, will face criminal charges.
One home lost power for a few hours after the crash. The remains of the car were hauled away by two tow trucks around 6 a.m.
