'We Did It': Rescue Cat And Owner Reach Summit Of New Hampshire's 48 Tallest Mountains

NORTH CONWAY, N.H. (CBS/AP) — If you have a cat, chances are you've seen it try to climb everything in your house. But how about climbing virtually every mountain in New Hampshire?

A rescue cat named Floki has spent the last nine months trekking to the summit's of the Granite State's 48 tallest peaks, including Mount Washington last weekend.

She hasn't done it alone, of course.

Floki walks some of the trails on a leach, but logs most of the miles harnessed in the back of a backpack of owner Mel Elam of North Conway.

"We did it!" Elam posted on social media after their trip to Mount Washington. She has chronicled her "Adventures with Floki" on social media, accompanied by photos and video.

Floki has grown from kitten to cat in the nine months since she and owner Mel Elam, of North Conway, started their journey to the top of the state's 4,000-footers (1.21 kilometers).

Elam adopted Floki from a shelter last year after losing another beloved hiking companion, her dog.
