Flash Floods Strand Drivers In Waltham, Surrounding Towns

WALTHAM (CBS) - Cleanup was underway Wednesday night after heavy rains caused flash floods in Waltham, turning streets into rivers, leaving a number of drivers stranded and bringing traffic in the area to a halt.

The heavy rains also flooded a number of homes and businesses and impacted the commute on Route 128 as well as a number of local roads.

Among the drivers who ended up stranded was Scott Priest, who wound up stalled out in a puddle. He says all he could do was watch and wonder as the water level rose.

"How much further before I have to get out and climb out the window," he said. "Trucks going by with waves about two feet certainly didn't help my state of mind at all."
