Second Sister Dies Following Fitchburg Fire

FITCHBURG (CBS) – A second woman has died a day after being pulled from an early morning Fitchburg fire that also killed her sister.

Flames broke out early Wednesday morning on Walton Street in a two-family home.

One woman was declared dead at the scene on Wednesday. Her sister had been pulled from the house after collapsing near a second floor window.

Firefighters said 3 people were in this Walton Street home when the fire broke out. (WBZ-TV)

But on Thursday, officials said the second woman also died.

A third man, the brother of the two women, was conscious when firefighters rescued him from the house.

All three siblings were in their 60s.

Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
