'First Family Of Fireworks' Organizing Boston's 4th Of July Display

BOSTON (CBS) – The company in charge of organizing Boston's fireworks show has put in more than 1,000 hours in advance of the 4th of July pyrotechnic display.

Fireworks by Grucci, known as "America's First Family of Fireworks," has been working for seven days to install the fireworks that will light up the Boston sky on Saturday night.

In total, it's taken 20 hours for 16 pyrotechnicians to choreograph the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular. About 1,344 hours of set-up went into the planning of the event.

Phil Grucci is in charge of show design and choreography while Ian MacKenzie is the company's chief pyrotechnician.

Using Grucci's Pixelburst technology, pyrotechnicians will display "USA" in red white and blue above the Charles River. The display will be about 400 feet high and 1,300 feet wide.

The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular concert begins at 8:30 p.m. and fireworks begin at 10:30 p.m.
