Fire Set To American Flag, Port-A-Potties Deemed Arson

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Fire officials are investigating a blaze set to an American flag, two port-a-potties and parts of a wooden guard rail in Springfield.

Fire department spokesman Dennis Leger says Springfield firefighters were called to Van Horn Park Sunday morning where the arson and bomb squad determined the fire was arson.

He says the fire caused $10,000 in damages and the port-a-potties were destroyed.

The American flag has been replaced, but the portable bathrooms have not been cleaned up.

Springfield police are searching for those responsible.
