Fenway Park Finishes Transformation Into Football Field

BOSTON (CBS) -- The transformation is complete. Fenway Park is now a football field.

The famous ball yard will host its first football game in 47 years on Saturday when Notre Dame and Boston College battle it out in the latest installment of the "Shamrock Series."

While Boston College isn't traveling very far, Saturday's tilt at Fenway actually counts as a home game for Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish play one off-site game each year as part of the "Shamrock Series," having taken over places like Yankee Stadium, the Alamodome and Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Fenway makeover got underway Friday afternoon, and was completed early Monday.

Fenway will also host a pair of high school football games the night before Thanksgiving and on Thanksgiving day, and will then transform into an ice rink for the winter.

To get you ready for Saturday's BC-Notre Dame game, tune in to a special 30-minute edition of "Inside BC Football" Thursday night at 10:30pm on myTV38!
