Feds: Iowa Man Made Facebook Threats To Boston Islamic Group

BOSTON (AP) — Federal authorities say an Iowa man has been arrested after threatening to shoot and kill Muslims on the Facebook page of a Boston Islamic group.

Prosecutors said Wednesday that 57-year-old Gerald Wayne Ledford of Clinton allegedly posted two threats on the Facebook page for the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center in October.

Officials said one included a photo of a man with a gun and said "This is for you."

A federal complaint released Wednesday says Ledford's posts were meant to be threats.

Ledford was charged with transmitting a threatening communication in interstate commerce.

He was to make an initial court appearance in Iowa before a June 24 hearing in federal court in Boston. He could face up to five years in prison.

It is not clear if he has an attorney to comment.
