Father's Day Extra Special At Fenway For Cancer Survivor And Dad
BOSTON (CBS) – A Father's Day dream came true for a young cancer survivor and his dad from Norfolk when they threw out the first pitch for the Red Sox during Pan Mass Challenge Day at Fenway Park.
Cancer survivor and amputee Jack Manning and his dad, Vincent, will also be hitting the road together in the Pan Mass Challenge for the first time this year.
Jack Manning is excited as he looks forward to riding with his dad.
"Every single time I went in the hospital he was there and he's riding for me and everyone else who has cancer. So it's really cool."
The Pan Mass Challenge raises money to support cancer research and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and is the largest athletic charity fundraiser in the country.
Vincent Manning is thrilled that his son will be able to join him in the PMC this year to support the effort that raised $40 million last year.
"There's no limitations on what he's able to accomplish and a lot of that is a direct result of the folks at the Jimmy Fund and Dana Farber, so to be able to give back and support that is great for us," he said.
