Victims, Suspect Identified In Milford Stabbing

MILFORD (CBS) -- One person had died and another is seriously injured as a result of a stabbing in Milford, officials confirm.

Police responded to 19 Green Street after a fight broke out around 3 p.m. on Sunday. They said it started after two men got out of a car and confronted another exiting the building.

Jeremy Robin, 19, was taken into police custody at the scene for stabbing the two men, said Deputy Chief James Heron. He is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and will be arraigned on Monday.

According to officials, the deceased victim was 21-year-old Timothy Commerford. Richard Garcia, 54, of Milford was transported to UMass Medical Center in Worcester and at last check, was in critical condition.

The suspect's mother said he was acting out to defend himself and his girlfriend.

Christine Romasto said, "My son came in at the tail end of it, saw his girlfriend and his mother being beaten on and bleeding and now they want to put him in jail for defending us."

Residents in the area were stunned by the events.

"I heard the guy was giving him CPR and the defibrillator," recalled Charles Nadeau. "He was bleeding a lot."

Rita Raymond also lives on the street.

"I've been living on this street for 51 years and it's terrible. I used to never lock my doors, never close my windows at night, now you're in your own house and you're petrified."

No further details about the motive are available at the time.
