Family: Slain Dorchester Teen Feared For Life

DORCHESTER (CBS) -- The family of 16-year-old Jonathon Dos Santos, who was fatally shot Wednesday while riding his bike, said the teen had feared for his life.

"He was concerned about his safety," a translator for Dos Santos' father told WBZ NewsRadio 1030. "He had mentioned to his dad that some people had been messing with him."

Jennifer Dos Santos, 9, said her brother always took care of her.

"He was nice to me," Dos Santos said. "Whenever I would come from school, he always used to hug me and say 'hi.'"

The teen's basketball coach told The Boston Globe that Dos Santos was being pressured to join a gang and was afraid that someone within the gang would try to hurt him.

No arrests have been made.
