Family Of Marathon Bombing Survivor Gives Back To Brigham & Women's
BOSTON (CBS) - Gillian Reny's legs were critically injured when the first bomb went off at the Boston Marathon in 2013.
In gratitude for the care Gillian received at Brigham and Women's Hospital which saved her life and her legs, her family established The Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Fund.
Gillian's parents, Audrey & Steve, are running the marathon again this year to continue their quest to raise awareness about the need to expand trauma research, and to raise funds to support it. In two years, they have raised $6.7M, funded nine physician-scientist teams and established a fellowship to train the next generation of trauma surgeons.
They are also leading the Stepping Strong Blood Drive on One Boston Day:
