Fall River School Flies Drone Over Giant 'Pi Day' Display

BOSTON (CBS) – For math fans, Saturday is an exciting time. It's Pi Day.

On Saturday morning at 9:26 a.m., the date and time represented the first 10 digits of the mathematical constant pi for the first time in 100 years.

For just a moment, it was March 14, 2015, at 9:26.54 a.m., lining up with pi's value of 3.141592653.

Schools around the country celebrated the day on Friday before classes let out for the weekend.

Among them was Diman Regional Voc-Tech High School in Fall River.

Teachers used pi in their lessons for the day. In addition, students went into the parking lot to great a giant pi display that was filmed from above by drone.

Among the pi-themed activities at Diman on Friday was the culinary arts department, which charged pi multiplied by two for every dish and also incorporated pie with all of their plates.
