Driver Charged After 11 Children On Fall River School Bus Injured

FALL RIVER (CBS) – A Fall River charter school bus driver is facing charges after she allegedly brought the bus to an abrupt stop during a dispute over missing stops.

Police said 11 Argosy Charter School students suffered minor injuries Thursday afternoon. Officers found the bus at the intersection of King Phillip and Tuttle Streets.

The students were taken to area hospitals for further evaluation. All of the children have since been released from the hospital.

The bus driver, identified as Kimberly Samson, was brought in for questioning.

Fall River Police said Samson, a driver with Fisher Bus Company, missed several stops at the beginning of her route. Despite missing the stops, she continued driving, police said.

A disturbance then began between Samson and the children. An adult bus monitor told police there was a "tumultuous" environment on the bus.

Students began calling their parents from the bus, and that is when police were notified.

While driving on King Phillip Street, Samson allegedly stopped the bus abruptly and the students were forced forward.

After police interviewed Samson, she was charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle and 11 counts of wanton and reckless endangerment of a child.
