Judge Allows Convicted Ex-Fall River Mayor Jasiel Correia To Delay Start Of Prison Sentence One Month

FALL RIVER (CBS) – A judge has granted former Fall River Mayor Jasiel Correia's request to push back the start of his prison sentence until after the holidays.

Correia had petitioned the judge, saying that he needed to help his wife and in-laws with their business over the holidays.

Correia was found guilty on federal fraud and extortion charges earlier this year.

He was scheduled to surrender on December 3. He will now have to turn himself in by January 10.
