FAA: Laser Pointed At Plane Over Newton

NEWTON (CBS) - The FAA is investigating reports that someone targeted two planes with lasers Tuesday night.

Two different pilots reported seeing lasers pointed into their cockpits. One was a flight that departed Boston and was headed to Atlanta around 7 p.m.

Newton Police got a call from the FAA to investigate it happening at Forte Park along the Charles River.

This report to police came two hours after a driver near Newton Center reported having a green laser pointed at his face and at other drivers along Sumner Street. The driver described the suspect as possibly a Hispanic male in his late teens or early 20's wearing a bright orange coat.

Several Newton Police officers responded to both areas but didn't find the person responsible.

Authorities are investigating to see if the two reports in Newton are connected.
