FAA: Laser Pointed At Plane From Hanscom

BEDFORD (CBS) - The FAA is investigating an incident near Hanscom Air Field in Bedford where someone pointed a laser at an aircraft.

Officials say the crew of Cobalt Air 794, a chartered Pilatus PC-12 aircraft, reported a green laser lit up the cockpit shortly after the plane took off at 7 p.m. on Friday.

The plane was at about 3,000 feet and climbing. No was injured.

The FBI recently began offering rewards in several cities for tips that lead to arrests in laser pointer incidents.

Last year, almost 4,000 laser strikes against aircraft were reported.

Pointing a laser at an aircraft is punishable by up to five years in prison.
